Notice regarding Renewal Registrations for Commercial & Trailer Plates –expiring on 11/30/18 and 12/31/18

You will be receiving your trailer renewal registration cards by now and should be receiving those for commercial plates shortly thereafter. There are several methods by which you can have these renewal registrations processed.  Due to significant registry changes in the past year, you should make every effort to begin the process now.

The most convenient way to renew a registration that does not require an insurance stamp is online.

Your registration number and Payment (e-check, credit card, or debit card)

  • By Mail – mail your completed RMV-2 (with insurance stamp if needed),

Payment (check or money order to Mass DOT – put plate number on check)

In the enclosed envelope provided to:

Registry of Motor Vehicles
Attn: Mail-In Registrations
PO Box 55891
Boston, MA 02205-5891

  • In Person- Visit any RMV Branch with your completed, signed RMV-2 (with insurance stamp if needed) along with payment by cash, check, or money order (payable to Mass DOT)

You can mail or drop off your renewal registrations that need a stamp to RogersGray, 63 Smith’s Lane, Kingston MA.  We will promptly stamp and return the paperwork to you, or, if you include a check for the Mass DOT, we will send them along to the registry.

Online, by phone, or by mail: Allow at least ten (10) business days for your registration and plate decal to be mailed to your address on file.

NOTE:  We recommend you prepare one check for every five renewal transactions

NOTE: Renewing by mail involves the longest processing time and delays may occur

NOTE: If your vehicle is leased, your registration will be mailed to the leasing company. If you do not receive your new registration and plate decal, contact your leasing company.

If you execute a new registration on a truck or trailer after September 1, 2018, you will also need to renew the registration.   Since you will not receive an RMV-2 (renewal) for these registrations, we recommending asking your dealer to renew the registration at that time.

As always, RogersGray is here to assist with your insurance needs.  If you have bulk registrations or questions regarding the renewal process, please feel free to contact us!
