The on-going Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is causing financial hardships for many people throughout Massachusetts, the U.S. and beyond. Additionally, governmental shelter-in-place advisories have led to a significant decrease in road traffic and the average number of miles driven per day for many. In response, many of RogersGray’s personal automobile insurance carriers have started offering premium credits and are also making other billing accommodations for their customers.

We’ve assembled a list of some the leading auto insurance companies offering Personal Auto Insurance premium credits to their customers during these trying times.

Arbella Insurance

Arbella Insurance’s Here. For Good.® Give Back Program will provide premium relief to their personal auto policyholders in the form of a credit on their billing statement. Subject to approval by state regulators, Arbella’s personal auto customers will receive a credit equal to 20% of their auto premium for three months – April, May, and June 2020. These savings would result in an estimated average of $60 per vehicle, and customers with multiple vehicles on their policy could see significant savings.

Arbella clients can expect to see these credits applied to their bill within the next 60 days, and they do not need to take any action to receive the credit.  Customers who have paid in full will receive a check within 60 days. Any new customer who purchases a private passenger auto policy effective prior to June 30, 2020 will receive the same benefit. To receive the credit, customers must be an active personal auto policyholder at the time the refund credit is made.

Arbella has also set in place a number of accommodations for billing, many of which are detailed at the link below. If you are having financial difficulty as it relates to paying your auto policy premiums, feel free to reach out to your dedicated RogersGray client manager or you can reach out to Arbella directly at 1-800-ARBELLA (272-3552) to discuss payment options and continued coverage.

Progressive

Progressive has announced a personal auto premium credit. Customers with an active personal auto policy at the end of April or May will be receiving a 20% premium credit. There is no action required to receive the credit. Progressive will calculate your credit for you at the end of that month, and you’ll see it in your Progressive account a few weeks after that. To receive a credit of 20% of your April premium, your personal auto policy must be active at the end of April. Similarly, to receive a credit of 20% of your May premium, your personal auto policy must be active at the end of May. Vermont Mutual Insurance Group

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Vermont Mutual will pay personal auto policyholders a payment equivalent to approximately 20% of their auto premium for 3 months. The insurer noted that this amount may be greater than other insurance companies, the company would prefer to issue a one-time single payment to policyholders rather in “multiple waves.” They will revisit the program, however, if the pandemic continues longer than it had originally anticipated under this decision.

In a slight difference from other such Stay-at-Home Premium relief plans, Vermont Mutual is giving its insureds the opportunity to donate their refund to several charities including Feeding America, Meals on Wheels, The United Way, and the Salvation Army. The four charities were selected based on their strong regional operations in New England. Customers will have until May 15th to decide whether to accept their refund or donate it to a charity. If a decision is not made by May 16th, the money will be sent by check or directly deposited to the customer. On May 20th, donations will be made on behalf of its customers to the above-named charities.

If you are having financial difficulty as it relates to paying your auto policy premiums, feel free to reach out to me or you can reach out to Vermont Mutual directly at (800) 451-5000 to discuss payment options and continued coverage.
